The last year has seen a phenomenal surge in interest in quality authentic Craft Cider in Manchester. From the first Fairfield Cider Fete in 2018, organised by GRUB and Hogan's Cider, the growth of quality authentic Craft Cider has been growing exponentially month by month. But its not just been a story of volume, some of the best Natural Ciders, Fine Ciders and modern Craft Ciders in the world can now be found in bars and bottle shops across Greater Manchester.

The new monthly #McrCiderClub is part of this #RethinkCider movement in Manchester

MAY Thursday 9th – Moss Cider, Joe Meeks. This tasting of local ciders will include some special archived vintages and some new exciting blends. Look out for a 2010 vintage, a hopped cider, a cyser and maybe a toffee apple sour!

JUNE Thursday 13th – @CiderCask French Cidre. Phil Kennedy has recently returned from Brittany with a superb collection of Breton Cidre Natural and others. His talks and tastings at the Fox and Goose in Hebden Bridge are always excellent. Strongly recommend.

JULY Thursday 11th ‘Full Juice’ Magazine

Join some of the founders of Full Juice for its Manchester debut to hear more about the UK's first cider magazine. Full Juice has been founded by Gabe Cook, The Ciderologist, world renowned Pete Brown and Bill Bradshaw, and Little Pomona's Susanna Forbes. Join some of them to hear more about its mission and to share some of their favourite ciders.

AUGUST Thursday 8th - Martin Berkeley, Pilton Cider

A masterclass in the art of ‘Keeving’ from the UK’s top expert in the field. Martin will introduce a tasting from his varied range of naturally sweet but strong-tasting ciders, including his recent Smokey Plum Cider collaboration with The Wild Beer Company.

SEPTEMBER Thursday 12th – Tom Oliver. Renowned the world over, Tom is a multi-award winner for his ciders and perry. We are hoping he might bring some of his collaborations from the beer world with Thornbridge, Mills Brewing and more recently Cloudwater.

OCTOBER Thursday 10th Dunham Press Cider. Chris Hewitt has been planting cider apple trees on the family farm near Altrincham for ten years. He will talk us through his range of ciders and how they reflect their northern orchard ‘terroir’.

NOVEMBER Thursday 14th Ascension Cider. Matt Billing is an exciting young cider maker and hot air balloonist, from East Sussex. He wild ferments acidic led ciders without the use of Sulphites. We are particularly looking forward to the ciders from his co-fermentation and barrel aging programme and his collaborations with Burning Sky Brewery.

Little Pomona

DECEMBER Thursday 12th – Little Pomona. Fresh from this year’s harvest, join James and Susanna Forbes as they share some of their small batch, wild fermented, natural ciders, true expressions of the orchards from whence they came. Specialising in some of the most striking, food friendly ciders around, cidermaker James boasts a distinguished wine trade career, while Susanna is author of The Cider Insider and coined the #RethinkCider hashtag with Pommelier Jane Peyton.

Ross on Wye Cider and Perry

JANUARY Thursday 9th 2020 Ross on Wye Cider and Perry.

"The weird and wonderful world of cidermaking, @RossCider style"

We start the new year where we started in 2019, with Albert Johnson from Ross and Wye Cider and Perry. Albert’s was the first Cider tasting at the Crown and Kettle in March 2019. Sold out a week in advance, it left such an impression that attendees demanded we set up the monthly Cider Club.

FEBRUARY Thursday 13th 2020 Hogan’s Cider Sophie Fitton is one of the people who has done the most to spread Craft Cider in the Craft Beer community in Manchester. This will be an early Valentine’s Day special – a curated selection of ‘Romantic Ciders’. Expect a month of twitter puns in the build up to this event.

MARCH Thursday 12th 2020 Find and Foster Cider. Polly and Mat Hilton will introduce us to the world of the champagne style, ‘Methode Traditionelle’, and Pet Nat, ‘Petillant Naturel’, Ciders from Devon. Their Huxham Blend Vintage 2017 Pet Nat is considered one of the best ciders ever made.

APRIL Thursday 9th 2020 – A special review. A review of the rise of Craft Cider in Manchester from the first Fairfield Cider Fete 2018 to today – with special guests.
